When people think about sustainability, they often picture glass jars, bamboo toothbrushes, or reusable bags. But for me, sustainability has also looked a lot like this table: Full of pre-loved kids’ clothes, toys, and gear from Rhea Lana of Fox Valley. From baby PJs and toddler jeans to a booster seat, play mats, and even a bottle drying rack. The variety they carry is incredible. You truly can outfit your kids for an entire season in one go.
Every time I walk out of their sale, my heart feels just as full as my bags. What you see in this photo isn’t just a collection of things piled up on my dining room table; it’s a reminder that reuse is one of the most powerful acts of sustainability. I personally have always admired Rhea Lana’s mission. We both believe in the same “three R’s”: Reduce, Reuse, and Rethink and they’ve shown just how beautiful reusing children’s clothes can look in real life.
Here's the thing: Kids grow fast. Like, really fast. Outgrowing shoes, toys, furniture and clothes doesn’t mean those items lose their value. It just means they’re ready for their next home and Rhea Lana has built a system that makes that handoff simple, organized, and joyful.
Having a private swap among friends is obviously ideal. It’s personal, easy, and free. But if you don’t have that setup, Rhea Lana Fox Valley will be that friend for you. They make it easy to pass things along to another family and find what you need next. This particular haul on my table? I spent about $115. Unheard of! If I had tried to gather all of this at resale shops, it would’ve taken hours (and a lot more money).
And if you have a kiddo that doesn’t want to wear hand-me-downs from their older sibling or cousin, there’s another great option: consign your gently used kids’ clothes and toys. With the money you earn, you can shop right there for “new” (a.k.a. new-to-that-kid) treasures.
Rhea Lana hosts multiple events throughout the year and across the Chicago suburbs, so there’s always another chance to join in. Whether you’re shopping, consigning, or just exploring a more sustainable way to parent.
If you haven’t checked them out yet, let this be your sign. Rhea Lana of Fox Valley’s Fall/Winter Sale is happening October 16–24, 2025! It’s the perfect time to refresh your kids’ closets, lighten your storage bins, and celebrate sustainability in action.
With love for all things reused and reimagined,
