“Hey! Do you have a card?” Why I switched to a Digital Business Card Wristband

“Hey! Do you have a card?” It’s one of the most common questions I get at the market. Usually from someone who isn’t quite ready to buy, but is interested. Curious. Thinking about it.
That moment matters. It’s not a transaction. It’s the beginning of a relationship.
And for the longest time, I handled it… with a piece of paper. Ugh.
Obviously, I made the switch for sustainability reasons
I didn’t go looking for something flashy. I was just tired of printing business cards and having to reorder them, or update them, run out of them, you get the point. So I started using a DOT digital wristband.
One item. Used over and over again. No reprints. That was the reason I got it.

This is probably a good time to tell you that I do not get paid to say all these nice things. I genuinely enjoy this product.
I stayed for the experience
What surprised me is how quickly this stopped being about sustainability and started being about ease. There’s no “Did I bring enough?” No digging through boxes. No awkward handoff.
I just say: “I can tap your phone.” (you might want to try finding different "sweet spots" on a bunch of different phones). And then I continue our conversation in a new direction. Away from products on my table. I lean into how some eco-friendly swaps just make so much sense. Which builds trust for Biene as a brand. Win!
A business card is a quiet exit. My digital business card wristband from DOT is an invitation. People are curious. They ask questions. They open the link right away, follow on the spot, find what they need without having to remember anything later. Everything flows better.
Let’s talk about sustainability (honestly)
This isn’t a perfect solution. It’s a small electronic device, and that comes with an impact.
But sustainability isn’t about labeling one thing as good or bad. It’s about what it replaces.
For me, this replaces numerous printed cards over time. It removes the cycle of printing, reordering, and yes tossing. So no. It’s not perfect. But used consistently, it can be a smarter option than paper.
It also challenges what “eco-friendly” looks like
Low-waste living is often framed as going backwards: Doing things the old way, reusing, repurposing, making do. And while that has its place, it’s not the only path.
Sometimes sustainability looks like breaking habits altogether: Using better tools. Letting new ideas make things easier. This is one of those moments. The wristband doesn’t ask people to do more. It shows them something simpler. And I like simple a lot.
My honest take on this Digital Business Card Wristband
I chose this because it felt more sustainable.
I kept using it because it made everything easier.
And that combination—better for the environment and better in real life—is exactly what I’m always looking for.
With love for small steps and everyday sustainability,
